Original Licensure Info
The Board of Pharmacy, in conjunction with the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP), provides for the administration of pharmacist licensure examinations daily, Monday through Saturday, excluding holidays, through the Pearson VUE Testing Centers. To take the NAPLEX or MPJE, candidates must meet the eligibility requirements of the Iowa Board of Pharmacy.
Effective January 16, 2013, the licensure by examination fee is $252 and is payable to the Iowa Board of Pharmacy. This covers the administration fee, an examination registration fee, and a biennial license. For more information and to apply, please see the instructions and application for licensure examination form. For more information, please visit Licensure by Examination.
The Board of Pharmacy will accept a NAPLEX score transferred from another state board of pharmacy through NABP in lieu of the applicant's taking NAPLEX in Iowa. The NAPLEX score transfer fee charged by NABP is $75 per jurisdiction. Candidates may now submit a score transfer request to NABP up to 90 days after sitting for the examination. Score transfer candidates will also be required to take and pass the Iowa Edition of the MPJE. Score transfer candidates must complete the requirements for licensure in Iowa within 12 months of the date of score transfer. For more information and to apply, please see the instructions and application for licensure by score transfer form.
More information on NABP's score transfer program and the NAPLEX Score Transfer Form can be found on The National Association of Boards of Pharmacy's Web site, including the Internet-based registration form and credit card payment fee process.
