The Iowa Board of Pharmacy and the Iowa Department of Public Health are pleased to announce a funding opportunity for Iowa providers, pharmacies, hospitals and clinics. The opportunity will provide reimbursement to cover the cost (or partial cost) of electronic health record (EHR) and/or pharmacy dispensing software (PDS) integration with the Iowa Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP). Funding may only be used for PMP integration costs and does not cover any software or hardware costs or fees related to electronic prescribing (e-prescribing). The awarding of funds is time sensitive, and priority will be given to applications received by April 16, 2021. In addition, preference may be given to new entities (i.e., entities who have not previously integrated). Funding will be awarded based on merit of the application and the potential for the integration to impact the health of Iowans and improve patient care. Additional details on the opportunity can be found in the one-page application. For additional information regarding the benefits of PMP integration, as well as the steps involved in the process, please contact the state of Iowa’s PMP vendor, APPRISS, at https://info.apprisshealth.com/ehrrequest as well as your EHR or PDS software vendor.
Applicants will be notified by May 14, 2021, of funds awarded through this process. Funds must be expended by successful applicants no later than August 15, 2021. Awardees will be required to submit an invoice to the Board of Pharmacy, accompanied by invoices from the awardee’s software vendor and/or Appriss, to support the claimed reimbursement. The deadline for reimbursement claims is August 31, 2021.
This funding opportunity is made available as part of a competitive grant awarded to the Iowa Department of Public Health by the CDC.
***NOTE, Year one awardees who have already confirmed their interest in receiving funds for year two should not reapply.***
