Pharmacy Technician Renewal

A certified pharmacy technician renewal expires on the second last day of the birth month following initial registration. Registration shall not include continuing education for renewal.

The renewal fee for obtaining a biennial registration shall be $40. Fees shall be in the form of a personal check, certified or cashier's check, or money order payable to Iowa Board of Pharmacy and payable at the time the renewal application is submitted for filing. Initial registration is required within 30 days of accepting employment as a pharmacy technician or technician trainee. A late registration fee will be added to the registration fee for failure to register within that 30 day period.

An application for pharmacy technician registration renewal shall be assessed a late payment fee of $40, in addition to the registration renewal fee of $40, if not received by the expiration date. The late payment fee will increase $10 for each additional month the registration is delinquent, to a maximum total fee of $110.

Renewal applications are sent to certified pharmacy technicians approximately two months prior to expiration of the current registration.
